I will put in the requisite mention of Virtuosity.
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I think my favorite Crowe film is Master and Commander, and that's due to the combined efforts of Peter Weir, Crowe, Paul Bettany, and the terrific story.
Yeah, but Virtuosity was crap.
Beverly, are you a fan of Robin and Marian? I adore that film, with its view of middle-aged love. Audrey Hepburn is brilliant. And Nicol Williamson KILLS as Little John,.
Favourite Crowe movie is still L.A. Confidential, followed by Master and Commander. I think the former was the first time I saw Russell Crowe in anything and he sure left an impression.
Exactly.
Oh wait -- I saw him earlier than that in an Aussie flick, Proof, with young Hugo Weaving.
Exactly this also. It was an after-the-fact realization that I'd seen him (and Hugo) before.
L.A. Confidential
blech.
Yeah, but Virtuosity was crap.
I liked it! He wore a purple suit and killed people a lot.
blech.
Don't you blech all over my L.A. Confidential!
My favorites, probably in about this order but I'd probably be reasonably happy with them in nearly any order:
The Sum of Us
Master and Commander
The Insider
L.A. Confidential
And I do have some shameful but sincere love for Gladiator, though no way does it belong on the above list.
Don't you blech all over my L.A. Confidential!
blech blech blech.
My extreme Hatred of all things Kim Basinger might discolor my feelings for that movie.
Veronica Lake look-alike my ever-expanding ass.
