Don't you blech all over my L.A. Confidential!
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Don't you blech all over my L.A. Confidential!
My favorites, probably in about this order but I'd probably be reasonably happy with them in nearly any order:
The Sum of Us
Master and Commander
The Insider
L.A. Confidential
And I do have some shameful but sincere love for Gladiator, though no way does it belong on the above list.
Don't you blech all over my L.A. Confidential!
blech blech blech.
My extreme Hatred of all things Kim Basinger might discolor my feelings for that movie.
Veronica Lake look-alike my ever-expanding ass.
I don't find Russell Crowe sexy at all. I often like his acting, but I would never see a movie just because he was in it.
I really liked the Insider and LS Confidential. He did a great Australian movie when he was quite young called Proof that I really loved.
I feel like I have seen a lot (well at least 2) Russell Crowe movies because they contained Paul Bettany. Of course, I own the movie Wimbledon because of Paul Bettany because my love of him knows no bounds.
Oh, yeah, speaking of iliac crests...
I liked 3:10 to Yuma a lot. And spent much of it going, "Oh yeah, there's a reason Crowe is a movie star. I'd forgotten." L.A. Confidential was the only other movie of his that I'd seen, and it had been a while.
I have liked a couple of the movies that Russel Crow has happened to be in, LA Confidential and 3:10 to Yuma, but I can't stand him as a rule. I hate Gladiator, so any movie associated with that holds no interest for me.
I fell asleep during Gladiator.
I loved 3:10 to Yuma and I liked L.A. Confidential, although it's been a long time since I've seen it. I thought he was really good in A Beautiful Mind but the movie itself annoyed me by the end (except for Paul Bettany, Sophia -- I'm with you there).
Still, he's never the reason I go to see a movie.
I hated LAC the first time I saw it, but I was rebelling against my noirish tendencies then. 10 years later, I thought it was the shit. My women's group would hate how much I love Ellroy. And even I know he writes the same book *every time* and has since he freaked out his class with what he did on his summer vacation, probably. I wish I knew how to quit him.
