Kick-Ass upset me quite a bit. That's all I can say about it tonight.
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Saw Men Who Stare at Goats last night, quite liked it. I think it's like Last Action Hero, the ad people had no clue how to package it, so most of the movie audience would have been baffled by it. It strikes me as in the same class of movie as Brazil (though not quite as brilliant as that) and Toys, in that you need to have a particular mind set to appreciate it.
From Yahoo: 100 Movies to See Before You Die: The Modern Classics
All these movies are from the last 20 years. I've only seen 57 of them. The list is organized by year - apparently I went to a lot more movies 1990-1999 than 2000-2009.

Plus you've had twenty years to catch up to them if you missed them in the theater.
But me too. I saw almost everything on their list from the early nineties before Emmett was born.
Wow, I've only seen 37 of them!
I've seen 53. What surprises me is how many of those I saw in the theater.
I have seen 60. I was surprised I saw that many. There's at least 10-20 on the list that I will likely not watch under any circumstances - like Titanic.
I question some of the movies that are on the list.
I think Michael Clayton is overrated. And Swingers? Really? See before you die? NO.
I shall not speak of Beauty and the Beast. Its inclusion on the list is just about enough to make me disregard the whole list.
I saw 57, and I'm amazed. The animated films are a big part of that, though.
I guess ita will be excited Old Boy is on there, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to skip that one.
An earlier list, this one not limited to the last 20 years: 100 Movies to See Before You Die: The All-Time Greats
I've seen at least 70 of these.
I've seen 27 of them, and many of the ones I have seen aren't really my favorite films.
