Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Idiot.

Finally saw Shutter Island tonight. It was okay I guess, but the dialogue really fell flat for me. And the music was way too much, verging on cheesy.
Visually it was cool, but they left out most of the coded messages, which really draw you into the investigation and added to the mystery in the book.
My friend who hadn't read it totally liked it and wants to read the book now, so I guess it works on that level.
ETA: I hope the same thing doesn't happen with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
I have seen Dragon Tattoo and I liked the movie. I had not read the book but the movie made me want to do so. I could tell there were some shortcuts taken with the plot though.
Rented Fantastic Mr Fox. Loved it so much! We watched Ponyo earlier this week and loved it as well. Yay for excellent animation!
Happy to report that everyone loved How To Train Your Dragon, 2 8yo boys, both grandparents and myself. It was very fun.
