Oh, nobody better have a British accent. Please.
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I'm a bit conflicted too.
I think I should just read my Charles Addams books to the kids tonight.
I just ... okay, fine, I will go see Dark Shadows when it's released, because there is no way I will be able to resist vampires + Tim Burton. But I don't automatically trust him with gothy icons anymore. Which feels very strange, like I've been going through a bad break-up.
And I love the Angelica Huston/Raul Julia versions so much. It's sort of been done, in my mind. Why bother?
I'd be way more excited if Henry Selick were slated to do a stop-motion Addams Family.
Hell, even Wes Anderson.
Why bother?
Because this version will actually show them making Girl Scout cookies out of real Girl Scouts?
OK, I got nuthin'.
You know who could do a good voice for Gomez?
Nathan Fillion.
Maybe Msr. Depp would prefer to do Fester?
Well, all the info I've seen says that Tim is going to take his inspiration directly from the Charles Addams cartoons, not any of the other media. I don't know if that makes things better or worse.

I kind of figured. Oh well, I want to see the Addams house done that way. And that super gaunt Morticia.

I see the cartoons as their own thing, then there's the tv show (which was actually my personal intro to the Addams family until my mom slyly slipped the cartoons my way), and the movie was based more on the tv show.
