Spike? It's you. It's really you! My therapist thought I was holding on to false hope, but…I knew you'd come back. You're like…you're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog, more beautiful than ever. Oh…he's alive Frodo. He's alive.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Well, all the info I've seen says that Tim is going to take his inspiration directly from the Charles Addams cartoons, not any of the other media. I don't know if that makes things better or worse.

I kind of figured. Oh well, I want to see the Addams house done that way. And that super gaunt Morticia.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I see the cartoons as their own thing, then there's the tv show (which was actually my personal intro to the Addams family until my mom slyly slipped the cartoons my way), and the movie was based more on the tv show.

Because books.

The movies did use the original material more than the TV show, though. The house design, a lot of the tone, even the stuff for the baby.

The TV show was my introduction, too, which is weird simply because Charles Addams was from the town where I grew up, and the house itself was right there in town.

And I love the Angelica Huston/Raul Julia versions so much.

This. And John Addams and Carolyn Jones were great too. That's two sets of indelible interpretations to try and outdo.

Astin and Jones were the more iconic Gomez and Morticia for me, but Christina Ricci owns Wednesday.

Christina Ricci owns Wednesday.

The scene in Addams Family Values where she's forced to smile would have done that all by itself, but there was so much more.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'd love to see Bebe Neuwirth playing Morticia. Has that been on Broadway or was that just in my head?

That sounds so right and familiar that it might have been something someone said here, but it might have been Broadway too.
