DH and I saw Alice in Wonderland last night, and it was very meh.
Will I at least have pretty pretty Tim Burton eye candy to look at? Really, that's all I'm asking for from this movie.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I am on iPhone now so can't look it up easily, but I think I recall Jennifer Jason Leigh talking about it. Vic Morrow was her father, but iirc it was absentee and estranged. I remember being surprised with an interview she gave eons ago; I think she didn't fault Landis. But my memory is poor and I could be remembeing all wrong.

It definitely looks like a Tim Burton movie, but it's nothing we haven't seen from him before. Your house is probably more creatively decorated than his Wonderland.

Really?!? I had no idea.

Well drat. I mean, I'll still go see it, but sigh. Tim, time to stop coasting on your earlier rep! Step up and do something really fun with Dark Shadows, okay?
I think Dark Shadows could be improved with a Dalek or two....

Well dang it. I can't say I was expecting anything more, but hope springs eternal and all that.
From the limited research I've done, if you wanted to fault one single source for the Twilight Zone crash it would be the pyrotechnic guy who set off effects without checking where the chopper was. He was granted immunity in exchange for his testimony. But Landis did hire the children illegally, he told their parents they were safe, and he ignored crew who warned him that the stunt was dangerous.
Yeah, Laga, it was that culpability coupled with his behavior during the trial that put me over the edge.

The first line of the plot summary: “Can a rough and tumble hockey player and a snooty ice dancer find love and a gold medal at the same time?” If that doesn’t make you want to watch it, then we are very different people.
