Man, that was awesome.

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Huh. I just noticed the article was from Dec 14, 2009, not this week. Funny nobody had linked to it before. I was link-hopping from Slate's Oscar talk. (Wow, that guy on Slate really doesn't like An Education.)
Yeah...also, do you think she needs a "Lloyd"? Cause that's somebody whose abuse I'd take for a while.

I don't know if this posted here before, but you can watch online, for free, all of the five Oscar Nominated Shorts. [link]

I won't be able to see Coraline tonight. Sniff.
Aw. No surprise guest for javachik, then. More of me for megan and JZ.
Awww, who're you visiting? What a lovely surprise. I am sorry to miss you!
Sean! You're here??
I'm in town for a couple of days visiting family that I didn't get to see over the holidays.
Just got back a bit ago. I am so, so glad I finally got to see it on the big screen in 3D. The sheer beauty of it is overwhelming (and this is after having seen it at least a half dozen times at home on the new fancy flatscreen my dad gave us for Christmas).
And ah, it was wonderful to know the film and all its rhythms and be able to guess where the next amazing 3D effect was going to be (and still jump with surprise even when I was right). And to hear Sean whimpering with delight every time Coraline mentioned Michigan, and to hear both Sean and megan gasping and squeeing and laughing themselves sick over Other!Spinks and Forcible's sea sirens battle. And the cat, and the garden, and the Beldame's pointed hungry face jutting right out over the audience, and Coraline curling up between the dressed-up pillows and swallowing down a sob. Oh. Oh. Oh.
