Because books.

The fact that someone got deep thoughts out of the Sideshow Bob rake thing is the funnier than the actual bit.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I submit that the Oldboy fight scene is both funny and awesome. Or, rather, awesome and funny. Cursory searching doesn't show me the rake scene. Well, not in English. Can anyone help?

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

ita, I googled "Sideshow Bob vs Rakes". There's an annoyingly low-res hit on youtube and another site appears to have the clip but it wouldn't play on my machine. If I find one that works I'll post the link here.

The low res version on youtube hurt my ears. Also, it started out with The Thompsons, so I wasn't sure if it was the ep or a parody of it.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Looks like the Fox lawyers are on the case!

Well, there are loose rules to comedy writing, and this rule of nine or exhaustion bit just hadn't been done in this way before. It shouldn't be funny on paper, but it is, in a very simple way.

How long does the gag run? Because there are lots of forty odd second snippets out there, but none seem rake-related. One of the snippets I skimmed searching for the video said that it was drawn out that way because they were short on time which adds to the value right there.

Oh, I know! I thought it was brilliant, because for us it worked exactly the way they must have thought it would -- funny, then WTF, get this over, then wow, they're still doing it, which was hysterical.

For a minute, I had to stop and wonder if I'd gotten high and forgotten about it.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

OMG, I just read a description of the plot to Battleship. (Yep, the movie based on the game.)

I'm not going to bother to describe the plot, except to mention one word: aliens. And yet, based on a board game of ships on a grid....
