A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Now tagless for your comfort.

In the TV series land, both "Gossip Girl" and "True Blood" are better than their books.

I love True Blood but I think the books are better than the series. Sookie is much smarter and less annoying in the books.

I've taken Charlaine Harris' advice and experience the books vs. movies as completely separate entities. I like the detail and supporting characters of the books. I like the sizzle and visuals of the show.

ETA: Twilight improved on the book, in my opinion. Not that that was that hard.

Seriously, with Ed Wood long dead who could have made a movie adaptation worse than the book? Uwe Boll?

Jaws was a better movie. Benchley was a hack, IMO--the book sucked. Hooper had an affair with Brody's wife and died at the end. Feh.

Oh man. I forgot that I even read that book. It did, indeed, suck. Yeah. Jaws definitely proves this rule.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Let us all pause to recall and savor the awesomeness of Lena Olin.

That could potentially be awesome.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I dunno. I'm gonna miss the showmanship of Hugh Jackman. I'm sorry he turned it down. I haven't liked anything Steve Martin has done in a while.
