Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I think I remember a werewolf comedy where the goth girl was the responsible one. Though the doofus younger brother saved the day in the end.
Also, can we please never ever have another movie where the quirky girl who dresses in black and doesn't wear (much) makeup suddenly gets a makeover and dresses all conventionally and then gets the guy?
Well, in "Drive Me Crazy" they did the same plot with a rebellious dude...but he looked better before the makeover too. Also, no more shopping montages, no matter what music they're set to.
Grease and Grease 2 sort of were oppo-trope. I mean, the goody-two-shoes kid had to don black leather to get the girl/guy and win.

And that's how it should be.
OK, maybe not all the time, but....
erika, what if it's "Hallelujah"?
It would be cool to do a make-over sequence that didn't put people into vanilla (from a Hollywood standpoint), but made them more themselves, if that makes sense.

Sandy could have dressed in sackcloth and as long as she sang "You're the One that I Want" like that she still would have gotten the guy.
You know, the first few times, I was really moved by the "Hallelujah" montages...they just went to the well so often, I'd not be surprised if it's a soap commercial now. I actually kind of liked the makeover in "Clueless" though.
Movie Title Oddity: Currently there are four separate movies playing in San Francisco with the numeral "9" in the title: 9, District 9, $9.99, Cloud 9.
We're nine-ish.
