I don't know that I loved anything I saw in the first half of the year, and they are all nominees, I think.
I just saw Deadpool, which was GREAT.
'Shindig'
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I do have one quibble: In the laundromat, when Al said to use lemon juice and whatever to get blood out. Doesn't every woman know you use hydrogen peroxide???
Supposedly lemon juice works as well as hydrogen peroxide. Also, salt and cold water. And a paste of water and aspirin or meat tenderizer can remove old bloodstains.
I'm a little worried about Matt's comprehensive knowledge of how to get blood stains out of clothing. Do you have a side gig we should know about?
Just as a klutz with a cat that freaks out when picked up.
I saw Deadpool on the weekend. * Oh god the Hugh Jackman cracks so many Hugh Jackman cracks. So, so funny. *
I saw Zootopia last night. The characters are good and the animation is beautiful but I wouldn't rush out to see it if I wasn't taking kids.

Am I correct in interpreting this as, "If you are taking kids, this is at least decent and will not make you want to gouge your eyes out"? At least, I dearly hope this is the correct interpretation, since I'm pretty sure I will indeed end up seeing it as Matilda's movie date.
I read at least one review that says it is the best CG Disney movie to date. Take with whatever salt you want but it will probably be decent at least.
I finally watched "Lucy" tonight. That was surprisingly meh, for a quasi-superhero movie starring Scarlett Johansson. Glad I didn't pay theater prices.
