Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Thanks, Steph, I've passed all that info on to her. Thanks for being so explicit (and without giving away any spoilers!)

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

So, when people see Deadpool, come back and read my whitefont -- the only fanfic I want is what happens to Dopinder the cabbie. I NEED TO KNOW.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

SAME STEPH NEED RESOLUTION THERE AHAHAHAHA.

Except "Dopinder" is not an actual name, it should be "Dupinder," what the hell.

Deadpool was so great. So great! If you liked the trailers, you'll like the movie.

I'm pulling for Dopinder and Gita, but Tim pointed out that he was in a wreck with his cousin tied up in the trunk and a duffle bag full of guns, so. I told Tim he just wasn't a romantic.

(I seriously wanted the post-credits scene to be Dopinder and Gita's wedding. BECAUSE I'M A GODDAMN ROMANTIC.)

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

DEADPOOL IS THE BEST SUPERHERO MOVIE EVER. Also, the best romantic movie ever. Okay, the best not-entirely-serious superhero movie ever. Sticking with the best-romance assessment, though.

It is very graphically violent. Also, there's sex and some references you don't want to have to explain to an innocent child. I agree, this is not a movie for kids.

It did pretty damn good on the feminist front, too. Nobody got fridged, Deadpool was out to avenge himself. No helpless damsels, Vanessa needed rescuing but she got herself out of the pod and then she stuck a sword in Ajax to save Deadpool. Angel and Warhead both had actual personalities, and neither were sexualized. Not a whole lot of women talking to each other, but to be fair, Deadpool did most of the talking.

I'm happy.

brillig

For all the praise, I think I'm going to skip Deadpool. Gore and rough language bother me. I am at peace with my snowflakeness.

Compassionately intolerant

Connie, it's pretty hardcore. I think you might enjoy reading about it on moviespoilers.com because the jokes were really good and virtually non-stop. But, as Steph mentioned, the torture scenes are raw and in no way fun.

The casting was surprisingly awesome. I was truly impressed.

I, too, want to hear the follow up everyone is talking about, though Tim makes a fine point.

The young'uns I saw it with had a hard time with some of the references...especially (in a way that just makes me sad)...the very last bit. I felt like I was giving them a history lesson. sigh.

Despite that, I enjoyed Deadpool way more than I thought I would!

And now I want a Bernadetter Peters coin purse . Is that a thing from the books?

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

So it sounds like Deadpool is Kick-Ass/Kingsmen but way, way better? Fair assessment? i'm so there. Sounds like Robocop (the original - why oh why a remake) for the 10s.

Yeah, we basically talked Frances into not seeing it, but she had a bit of regret. Then about an hour later her friend texted her to say *her* dad had nixed it too when he realized it was rated R. So instead we watched The Martian. Works for me!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Everything I've heard indicates it's a barely-avoided-NC-17-R, not slightly-more-violent-than-PG-13-R.
