Count me among those who felt Ant-man was a complete story on its own. I mean, the Falcon bit was definitely serving up later movies, but it didn't feel wedged in there (unlike Thor's vision quest in AoU).

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I am starting to think of the Marvel movies as a ridiculously high budget television series.
Thinking of it that way makes me less disappointed with the clunkers, but more impatient that I have to wait a year between episodes.
At this rate, we'll get a Black Widow movie when I'm 65 and Natasha will be played by Harley Graham from Thor.
Oh, I didn't mean tease in terms of the universe, I meant it more in reference to the first tag and those waiting for better roles for women. This could have been that movie. But I'm supposed to be happy with the implication that they may get around to it?
I think Ant-Man stands alone as a movie just fine, but compared to most other films I saw this summer it was only mildly entertaining and in need of a good editor. The fact that it is also the perfect encapsulation of how not-feminist most Hollywood films are is just the last straw icing on the cake.
I went to see Dope with megan walker and it was SO FUN. Really, it's a hella smart, witty, contemporary movie. Could have done more with the female characters, but they weren't insulting, just sidelined. And it's just sharp as hell.
Highly recommended, even if you don't know squat about 90s hip-hop. (The lead character is really into 90s hip-hop.)
Co-signed.
Supposing that I still haven't seen The Iron Giant (despite owning the DVD, I have no explanation for this it's just a mysterious fact of my existence) and it will be showing at the IMAX theater near me, I should just go ahead and get tickets, yes?
Yes.
Yes.
OK, then. Making it so.
I realize the decision has already been made, but I wanted to join in on the "Yes" parade.
