We fled the heat and saw Fury Road again. Still blown away by how good of a movie it is.
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I seem to have missed my window to see Fury Road at a nearby theater. Curse my not getting to the movies in a timely fashion ways!
There's a lot of stuff in Phantom Menace that makes one remember, "Oh yeah, this is that sinking feeling I immediately had in the theater."
We just did this but we did it in theatrical release order. Are currently stalled after phantom partially because I do not own attack of the clones and partially because I just can't. I have actually never even seen revenge of the sith. Yes I know it is better than the others but I just haven't been able to make it happen yet.
Phantom is so so bad.
However the Internet available "despecialized" hd versions of the original trilogy are a magic work of art.

I misread this as "despicableized" and had images of minions swarming around Darth Vader.
I've discovered Revenge of the Sith is fun if you root for evil.
I will admit that the opening fight with Christopher Lee was fun in the third movie.
What with Padme spending most of the movie sitting in her apartment wringing her hands, RotS was when I discovered George Lucas' kids must have come from the stork, because clearly he has never met a pregnant woman.
Despite Phantom Menace's badness, the Duel of the Fates still blows my mind. That is some amazing-looking swordplay.
I know almost nothing about the last three Star Wars movies. M. and I went to see one of them, and I was so bored all I can remember is teenagers whining (Phantom Menace?), and then M. fell asleep and started snoring, and we decided to leave. That's the only movie I've ever walked out of the theater on. It was so bad.
I thought little Anakin was cute. He was no more whiny than Luke. I don't remember much about Clones, and there were touches in the third one I liked.
