I like the one with the people and the gas refinery, but that's more for the people he deals with. "A fella, a quick fella, might have a weapon under there. Then I'd have to nail his head to the panel."
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
This is the only one of the 4 where Max narrated, which is interesting.
I didn't realize that. In my head, he narrates at least at the beginning of each of them. Though my memory might be retroactively influenced by the current movie. It's been ages since I saw any of the others.
I don't find Tom Hardy particularly attractive (I don't think he's UNattractive, but he's just not my type), but he really was excellent in this movie.
Seconded.

Nope, the other two movies are narrated by other people who reinforce Max as Myth, which is pretty neat. He's a mythic figure who drops into other people's stories and just helps them so he can get out of them.
P.-C., you're right, I remember that now. I like that.
Hey, so the trailer for The Martian is out: [link]
And it's got a wicked high-profile cast. I'm impressed. But it doesn't look as funny as the book was. I guess we'll see.
But it doesn't look as funny as the book was.
I think the trailer is focusing more on the DIRE SPACE ACTION. Matt Damon seems perfect as Mark Watney, and his funny bits (in the trailer as well as this video) make me think the movie will definitely be as funny as the book. It's written by Drew Goddard, come on!
I was sold at "I'm going to have to science the shit out of this."
Amen to that!
Yep, that was the moment I knew they got it. Also "I'm still alive, obviously." Just...everything about Mark Watney is perfect. He's determined to survive, but he has a sense of humor about his situation.

LOVE that line.
They've definitely changed some stuff (it looks like maybe he can talk with NASA instead of just text, and it looks like the way they find out he's alive is different) but I think most of the trailer is from the last twenty minutes of the film, because that's where the high stakes drama is.
Suffice to say, I am bouncing up and down with flappy hands every time I remember this movie is coming. I am so freaking excited. Maybe I will read the book a few more times while I'm waiting.
