I didn't cotton to Wanda and Pietro at first
I think that is some pretty stellar writing, problematic writing in places or not.
I was
so
ready to talk about how they were underdeveloped, and now I have all these Maximoffs feels and nowhere to put them. I'm not sure when the shift happened, but the scene you mentioned is one. I also loved
when Wanda realized Ultron's mission was not THEIR mission, and quietly betrayed him. A nice reminder that she's actually more powerful than him, too.
Also THREE CHEERS FOR
HELEN CHO.
See also, "Blurred Lines" and "Baby, It's Cold Outside," both of which I love even though they're creepy and rapey.
Oh oh oh am I allowed to like "Blurred Lines" because that is a damn catchy song.
The more I think about it the more I feel what I didn't like about the film was that it felt like a lot of set up that went nowhere.
I mean Ultron
is this super powerful force who is in the internet and can upgrade and replicate himself, and all they have to do to defeat him is kill all of his robots? Really? I felt it should have been more complicated than that.
sj, I think that's why my friends
found him kinda boring. It was hard to take him seriously.
But we did get
Vision
out of the deal, so the build up was worth it to me. And I'm not that familiar with the comics,
but I loved the look of Vision. Especially when he saw Thor's cape and added one to his costume.

Totes magotes, man.
I did love the idea of Ultron as a
being-in-many-bodies, though it wasn't handled nearly as well as Ann Leckie does in Ancillary Justice. He touches on it once or twice,
but there were cooler things to do with that idea. As for
destroying him, the real key, I thought, was Vision cutting him out of the Internet, with, um, science magic. Then it was a matter of destroying all the individual selves.
Sail,
I found Vision intriguing, but I'm not really familiar with the character and they didn't really use him much. Maybe he'll be in future films?
P-C, I could see that, but
that all pretty much happened off screen and all we got what Tony and Bruce telling us about it, which isn't terribly exciting.
We saw
Vision burning Ultron out of the Internet in the church. It was their big fight scene. He made all the blue CGI into yellow CGI. It's compelling.
P-C, I missed that or wasn't paying much attention at that point. The 3-D was making me kind of anxious. I should probably see it again without the 3-D.
I saw it in 2D. Anyone else see it in 3D, who generally likes 3D?
I did not catch this reference but I was wondering why
Veronica was called Veronica
and HA.
I saw it in 3D. It was fine: didn't really add to the experience, but I didn't find it to be badly done.
