Well, if we followed the recipe...should be cake. A demon-violence-free-zone cake.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Yeah, it was goofy enough when it was Batman vs. Superman. Now it's pretty much most of the Justice League, but still, in theory, about Batman beating up Superman, because for whatever reason they can't do a Batman and Superman story without re-hashing The Dark Knight Returns.

Hey. New board.

I am past being passed about DC movies. I simply don't care anymore.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

And yet Arrow is doing gangbusters. (And the Flash show looks promising.) How are their movies so sadmaking (the Nolan Batmovies notwithstanding [although fun they are not]) and Arrow so good?

I think it's the salmon ladder.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Marvel movies are awesome; Marvel TV shows are OK; Marvel animation sucks.

DC Animation is awesome; DC TV shows are good; DC movies suck.

Thus, the balance of the universe is maintained.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Or...."How do we distinguish ourselves from Marvel? Well, their movies are super fun, so let's not do that, OK?"

Sadly, I think this is more reality than snark.

And despite that success, they want to keep their TV and movie universes separate.

Marvel movies are awesome; Marvel TV shows are OK; Marvel animation sucks.

With the exception of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Spectacular Spider-man, I agree with you. (Of course, those both got cancelled in favor of the inferior Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-man, so there is that.)

DC Animation is awesome; DC TV shows are good; DC movies suck.

I don't know. I think DC Animation has been losing steam since JLU went off the air, with rare standouts like Young Justice reminding us of how good they can be. I know the last few direct-to-DVD features from them I've watched have been underwhelming. And now it sounds like they're trying to do New 52 stuff almost exclusively, which, blargh.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Yeah, the only interest I had was in Jamie Dornan (who apparently the fans are saying isn't hot enough, in case you needed further proof of how crazy they are how tastes differ). But even he's not pretty enough to subject myself to that.

I'm willing to wait for clips/screencaps of Dornan's skin scenes to hit the net (which they should about 30 seconds after the DVD goes on sale).

Spectacular Spider-man

Was produced by Sony, not Marvel. It was canned prematurely because Marvel regained the rights to the animated character, and we have the shitty Ultimate Spider-Man show as a result.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I don't know. Tom's balance of the universe argument feels true, but Tep's salmon ladder theory makes a lot of sense.

The DC shorts have been consistently awesome: [link]

I think the potential for greatness is still there.
