What's the issue with Earth to Echo, tommyrot? Aside from it looking like an E.T. rip-off?
Just that the previews annoyed me. Partially because it's an E.T rip-off.
Maybe I wasn't in the mood for 'cute' when I saw the preview.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Zen, you mean Edge of Tomorrow?
Even the posters for Echo look like E.T. posters.
I saw Snowpiercer last night, and I agree with you, Sail. It was both totally enjoyable, and, yes, violent. But not gratuitously so. I had to travel an hour to see it, but it was worth it.
I was also willing to suspend my disbelief for the more preposterous parts like how do they raise cows in train cars that size?
Don't care!
I love the way they just handwaved those kinds of things, amyth. Like having a totally fortuitous clairvoyant on board didn't hurt either.
Oh yeah, I loved that, too. No need to explain, it just is.
I'm seeing Snowpiercer tomorrow -- am excite!
I saw Snowpiercer yesterday! It was funny how it inspired a range of reactions from everyone I went with. (Some baffled, one enraged.) Aside from the parts where I was watching through my hands due to the violence, I enjoyed it and I'm still thinking about it. It's definitely an experience.
I'm seeing How to Train Your Dragon 2 tonight after work.
I was totally baffled by one scene: when they entered the train car with the guys with the axes and they were...gutting a fish?
The funny part was, it seemed to me like the people from the back of the train were just as baffled. They were looking at them, like, "Whuh?"
Zen, you mean Edge of Tomorrow?

Well, yeah. Thanks, chrismg. I'll go fix it. (For posterity, I wrote Edge of Darkness, for some reason.)
