A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

This weekend was the lowest grossing July 4 weekend since 1999.

What is it with this Summer? There's seriously been nothing I've been interested in seeing since May, and probably nothing until Guardians is released in August.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Tom, seriously! There's nothing good out this summer. Captain America was the best movie of the year. I enjoyed Edge of Tomorrow but it doesn't seem to be making the kind of money they probably thought it would. What else is there? Did they really think Transformers and Dragons 2 would be the summer blockbusters?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm personally gratified that Transformers isn't doing better.

Dragon 2 probably will have legs, because not everybody can get their kids to the theatre on a holiday weekend.

I'm gratified Earth to Echo isn't doing better.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

What's the issue with Earth to Echo, tommyrot? Aside from it looking like an E.T. rip-off?

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

For those feeling the lack of good summer movies, you must go see Snowpiercer; I was totally blown away. Besides a totally affecting performance by Chris Evans, it has the SWINTON! I pretty much didn't recognize her at first and the part she played--OMG. She was the evils of bureaucracy incarnate.

I will warn you, though, this is a very violent film. VERY. There were a few times I had to close my eyes and I don't normally do that. I don't feel any of it was gratuitous, though. When you decide to hold a revolution, it's no holds barred.

Although, I think the most disturbing image of the movie wasn't in the violence, it was in the schoolroom indoctrination of the children into the cult of Wilford, the inventor of the train. It sent chills down my spine.

Just that the previews annoyed me. Partially because it's an E.T rip-off.

Maybe I wasn't in the mood for 'cute' when I saw the preview.

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Zen, you mean Edge of Tomorrow?

brillig

Even the posters for Echo look like E.T. posters.
