Sometimes I miss having powers... Oh. Oh! I know what this is! This is peer pressure! Any second now you're gonna make me smoke tobacco and--and have drugs!

I look more rad than Lutheranism

That was in my white-font, but I failed at indicating there was white-font.

Oh, oops. I didn't realize there was white font. It's sneaky that way.

Thrive to spite them

Somehow I have a subscription to US magaizine. It just showed up around the holidays and I have no idea where it came from so I flip through it and then recycle it.

There was a mini review of Winter Soldier the only good thing was the big picture was Natasha running with an insent picture of Captain America.

They gave the movie 2 starts out of 4.

Here's a comic book flick in which the audience has a superpower: the ability to anticipate very beat on screen! Now unfrozen from World War II, the super-soldier teams up with frisky Natasha to flush out the villan who as compromised their agency. (Naturally, the entire world is at stake.) Every gotcha twist leads to a bombastic explosion, which leads to a groaner of a quip ("I guess he's the bad guy!"). Consider this pure Marvel filler until Avengers 2.

The other reviews I've seen have been positive. And everyone at work loved it. Another coworker and I were kind of teasing someone (who was seeing it after work) by quoting randomly or making vague references.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Why the fuck is Natasha "frisky"? Why do I want to kill everyone?

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Most of the negative reviews I've seen seem to be from folks who don't actually like superhero movies.

I read one that complained about the "generic quick-cut action where it's impossible to tell what's going on that's in all action films these days" and I had to wonder what film they were watching. One of the things I liked about CA:tWS was that I could actually tell what was going on in most of the fight scenes and they did some really nifty stuff with Cap's shield.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, yeah, I often have trouble following what is actually going on in fight scenes lately, but not in Winter Soldier. Even with the 3D blur.

I will agree with that article P-C linked, where an unfortunate number of reviews that dismiss Black Widow as eye-candy and/or question why Scarlett Johansen is in such a "meaningless" role.

Personally, I think Widow was an essential part of the movie, both for her contributions to their endeavors, and as a foil to Cap's idealism. (She also got most of the best lines, though Falcon and Cap had some good ones, too.) I also loved the bit where Cap goes back for the thumb drive to find it missing and Widow steps up behind him popping the gum it was hidden behind.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I said this on Facebook, but I feel it strongly enough to say it again. It's nice that Marvel is filming so much in Cleveland, so I don't have to go back there to visit in person. I did a certain amount of "Hey I used to ride my bike across that bridge" while watching this movie. Of course, during Avengers I was playing "Spot the spots where I'd go when cutting school".

It's insidious. Like root beer, and the Federation.

Art Crawl!!!

I can't see it until after my next payday.

You guys spend lots of money seeing it multiple times so it will still be here - okay?

(It would be the 3rd weekend. . . )
