Holy shit! That was not at all the movie I thought I would be seeing, but it was fabulous.
Is it just me, or were you mildly disappointed when
Jenny Agutter's character pulled off the mask? I wanted Jenny Agutter to have been kicking that much ass.
Not just you, Epic, but I was still pleased
that there was quite a few scenes where women kicked ass.
And I can't wait to see what happens to the TV show now.
Can it even still be called "Agents of SHIELD"? Because...that's not exactly true anymore, right?
Teppy, that is the first thing I said to TCG when the movie ended.
Finally, I've read comments elsewhere that the movie CLEARLY established that
Dr. Zola is the Clairvoyant on the TV show. I'm torn about that idea, mostly because I still want the Clairvoyant to be someone we already know on the show -- either Hand or Garrett.
Huh. That didn't even occur to me, though it makes sense. I would rather it be someone from the show too.
Well played, Marvel.
Yes, to everything you just posted, Teppy.
Apparently there was!
Thanks, P-C. I totally missed that part. There was a loud 4 year old sitting behind us.
Now, someone please explain to me the just before the credits scene. Specifically,
who are the twins?
sj, the mid-credits scene was
directed by Joss and is a setup for Avengers: Age of Ultron. The Hydra guy is Baron Strucker, and the twins are Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, who will also be in X-Men: Days of Future Past because they're mutants (Magneto's children). Here, it looks like they've been given their powers through experimentation with Asgardian magic.
Unrelatedly, I love the fact that
Cap's catch-up list is different in different countries,
as shown here.
WAIT A SECOND the whole
"Hydra has infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D." thing is what Dark Reign was about? I wonder if they'll do H.A.M.M.E.R. Although they don't have Norman Osborn, so I can't really say how. I love how Marvel is adapting all their canon in such a way that it draws from the comics but is still surprising because they're telling the stories differently.
Thank you, P-C! I was watching it saying to myself, I have no idea what is going on, but I know it is important.
I was watching it saying to myself, I have no idea what is going on, but I know it is important.
Yes, this!
Oh, and I looked up
Ezekiel 25:17. It says, "I will execute great vengeance on them with wrathful rebukes. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I lay my vengeance upon them." Nary a righteous man in sight.
well caught, Kalshane.
Yeah, I took that as a
subtle Pulp Fiction reference,
very cute.
Oh, duh. I haven't watched that one recently, but good point.
Also I can't wait to see the vids that come from this movie.
"Even when I had nothing, I had Bucky." GAH STEVE YOU KILL ME.
I was also mildly disappointed that it wasn't
Jenny Agutter's character kicking ass
.
Me TOO! I so wanted that to be the case.
Following that, I had to ask
why wouldn't she just take off her jacket
for cripe's sake.
Anyway, I loved the movie much more than I expected to. I didn't really like the first one but this felt so different and was action, action, ACTION!
One of the people with me kept speculating that
Magneto might cameo in Avengers 2
as a result of the
mid-credit scene.
I can't imagine that both for 'don't cross the streams' reasons and for economic reasons.
Now I can't wait for A2 OR Xnext.
Doesn't this also preemptively
kind of shit on the Peggy Carter series
?
Also, I guess Marvel has a
Dr. Strange
movie in the pipeline.
Tom, I don't know why it would.
Zola said the infiltration of SHIELD slowly grew over time.
I imagine that
back in Peggy's day
things were still relatively straight-forward.
