I am not entirely surprised. *I* thought it was fun, but I went in with basement-level expectations. I didn't care about any of the main characters (to be fair, I didn't care when I read the book, either); my attention was held by snarky one-liners and seeing what the headmistress wore next.
Ahahaha, yeah, the Lego movie is HILARIOUS. Good stuff!
And I will NEVER get that song out of my head.
I'm making the song my theme song. Ironically.
You know, I loved Legos as a kid so seeing the movie was fun for me. And we have superglued some of Frisco's Legos cause he can't handle it when they break. But the sheer WTFness of the movie kept me interested.
And I loved Batman.
Seriously, I can't get that song OUT OF MY HEAD.
And Batman stole the damn show.
Batman was great! Loved his dance mix theme song:
"Darkness...No Parents...."
It doesn't seem that funny now but "I only build in black" had me laughing.

"...and sometimes dark grey."
"Darkness...No Parents...."
Blacked out curtains....in a basement.....
Webcomic relevant to the Lego movie: [link] (To my shame, I had to read the mouseover text before I got it. In my defense, it's after midnight and past my bedtime.)
We laughed more than the kids in the audience. That was fucking hilarious. And it had the best
Star Wars
joke ever. Ever.
I was pretty much in from
"piece of resistance,"
and it only got better from there. It was all so clever and fun and there was that moment with the
cat poster where the BELIEVE sparkled
and I really really wanted
something to happen with the cat
AND IT DID AND I WAS SO HAPPY.
Everything is awesome.
