And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

"Darkness...No Parents...."

Blacked out curtains....in a basement.....

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Webcomic relevant to the Lego movie: [link] (To my shame, I had to read the mouseover text before I got it. In my defense, it's after midnight and past my bedtime.)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

We laughed more than the kids in the audience. That was fucking hilarious. And it had the best Star Wars joke ever. Ever.

I was pretty much in from "piece of resistance," and it only got better from there. It was all so clever and fun and there was that moment with the cat poster where the BELIEVE sparkled and I really really wanted something to happen with the cat AND IT DID AND I WAS SO HAPPY.

Everything is awesome.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that my kids and I have been asking each other "Where are my....PANTS?" for the past week.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

The 50 Most Romantic Movies Ever Made – Flavorwire

I haven't seen a lot of these but this list includes a lot of my favorites: My Beautiful Laundrette, Amélie, Go Fish, Maurice, Secretary, Roxanne, Lost in Translation (my fave of all these), Harold and Maude, Before Sunrise, and The Princess Bride. (I still need to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Brokeback Mountain and Blue Is the Warmest Color.)

eta: Apparently I'm inconsistent with the Oxford comma.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Good list. I was scrolling down and going, "this doesn't have Say Anything so the list is totally invalid... Oh, THERE it is," and "where the hell is In the Mood for Love... OK, yep, spoke too soon," etc.

I would have put more 40's screwball romantic comedies there, personally. The Lady Eve, maybe a Hepburn/Grant (Holiday being my personal fave.) And I know it's fashionable to bag on it nowadays, but I'd have put The English Patient there somewhere.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I can't speak to the ones I haven't seen, but while most of those films are great choices for a list of romantic movies, I find some of the entries idiosyncratic. I love It's a Wonderful Life and Bonnie and Clyde, but I wouldn't put either one on a list of most romantic movies of all time. And Ghost?! Really? Ugh. If we are going for romantic ghost stories I'll take Truly, Madly, Deeply thank you.

Yeah, when I think of It's a Wonderful Life, the first thing I think of is not "romance." Nor the second or third thing.

brillig

Unless they're shipping Jimmy Stewart's character and Clarence the Angel.

Which now sounds like a really weird episode of Supernatural.

edit for incorrect iconic early/mid-century actor

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Psst. Jimmy Stewart.
