brillig

The line in the trailers about getting to Afghanistan via Yemen always makes me and Hubby laugh.

Because books.

There are not many Ben Stiller movies I want to see anymore. Actually any, I think.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Ben Stiller is one of those actors who I feel like I should like, but then I inevitably hate everything I see him in.

I think the last movie he was in that I enjoyed was Zero Effect.

Ann, that's a ferret.

The 2 Night at the Museum movies were decent mindless entertainment. Although I think that was more from good execution of an idea that hadn't been done to death, and Stiller didn't do much one way or the other.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I used to religiously watch The Ben Stiller Show and enjoy it, but somewhere along the line my affection for Stiller curdled and I tend not to like his performances even in movies that are fun overall anymore.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I just don't usually find Stiller funny. I liked Night at the Museum though. Maybe because it wasn't a comedy as much as a fantasy with comedic elements. I wanted Mitty to be good; sad it isn't.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

My problem with Mitty is that I will be comparing Ben Stiller to Danny Kaye the whole time, and that just won't work in Stiller's favor.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

So, I just watched The Pirate with Gene Kelly and Judy Garland. It's probably got a lot of interesting stuff for students of movie musicals, but what stood out for me is there's a dance number with the Nicholas Brothers and Gene Kelly! The choreography isn't quite as spectacular as I would have hoped, but the dancing is effortless and beautiful.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

That was such a difficult movie for her. Pure, unadulterated hell from MGM, her marriage to Minnelli, her drug use being out of control. And then it was a flop.

Yeah? That kinda comes through. At least, I'm not surprised.
