What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Based on trailers alone, I am more excited for Christopher Nolan's cinematographer's movie than Christopher Nolan's movie.

(To be fair, the latter is a teaser. Hope the full trailer has more of a hook.)

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Saw The Hobbit DoS today. Much fun was had by all, but most especially Franny and her friend Jade. Have to say that Consuela's description pretty much nails it. Cody's reaction was that the movie was "the most expensive work of fanfic ever." I'm also on board with Team More Beorn.

I went to Inside Llewyn Davis yesterday, and it was excellent. Very classically Coen Brothers, but no wood-chippers (thank goodness). Great cast, great music, and just smart and interesting and funny and awful. If I knew more about the Village scene of the early 1960s, I probably would have picked up on more of the references.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I probably would have picked up on more of the references.

I know it's mostly based on Dave Van Ronk (The Mayor of Greenwich Village). I'm pretty sure Michelle Williams' character is based on somebody specific.

Michelle Williams isn't in it, but Carey Mulligan is. She is, by the way, awesome. Which is good, because she's one of only two women in the movie. (Sigh.)

Oops, that's who I meant.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I can't go see that because I'm afraid something bad will happen to the cat.

Zenkitty: there are two or three cats in the movie. One of them might get hit by a car, but is seen limping into the woods afterwards. It's unclear whether this is one of the cats we saw earlier or not. The one good thing the lead character does is try to look out for the cat.

I'm feeling pretty silly at the moment. I have only just now realized that Radagast is the Seventh Doctor. Dur.

Also, I liked some of the changes, disliked others, but mostly thought it was okay (and the most expensive work of fan fiction ever). I don't really understand what the point of the plan to light the forges was. Fire can't kill a dragon. Obviously these dwarves haven't read Game of Thrones.

Also, are the dwarves all wearing meaty, prosthetic dwarf hands?
