Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Don't forget the snow mega-hurricane with the absolute zero temp eye that freezes people solid instantaneously!
The Day After Tomorrow is so egregiously bad it's almost awesome.
Since it gave inspiration to one of my all time favourite fanfic (Yahtzee's Goodnight, Moon), I can't completely hate it. It's epically dumb but also kinda entertaining when you check your brains at the door.
Oh, I haven't read that! I should go find it.
Uh, make sure you have some time to weep quietly in a corner.
Uh oh. Damn her.
As I said--bad I was expecting. Offended was the surprise. Washed my brain out with some Louis CK "Of course...but maybe?". Like a charm! Perfect level of offended.
One thing I found impressive in World War Z was the bit where our hero has found the disease samples, turns around, and finds the zombie staring at him through the closed door. From there till when Gerry walks out the door to the other wing I found to be a nice piece of filmmaking--very few words, absolute "this works or I'm dead" situation.
Though the lack of basic weapon control (banging your crowbar into cabinets) and "watch where you put your damned feet!" was annoying.
have you all seen Pitch Perfect? I had no idea, but I am really enjoying this film. It is funny and I love the singing.
