I liked Chicago. However, I am concerned about the crappy track record of Sondheim musicals turned into movies, some of the casting choices (JOHNNY DEPP), and some of the story choices (Cinderella's Prince IS the wolf, that's the ENTIRE FUCKING POINT).
But some of the other casting looks promising. So.
Cinderella's Prince IS the wolf, that's the ENTIRE FUCKING POINT
Oh god I didn't even notice that. No no no!
Aw, I loved Chicago! But I went in with no expectations. I think my biggest complaint was Renee Zellweger's squintiness.
I expected Richard Gere to suck mightily in Chicago, so I was surprised that he didn't. I cannot stand Renee Zellweger, though, so I wasn't overly fond of the movie as a whole.
My complaint about Chicago is Renee Zellwegers arms (too muscled)
I think Joss showed his understanding of Into the Woods better in the last episode of Buffy (I always think that "what are we going to do now" and the final "I wish" are so similar) than these people who are doing this casting. Anna Kendrick would be a better Ridibg Hood. Or Kristen Bell. Or even Amanda Seyfried . These are adult roles
I watched this Japanese horror flick last night and it wasn't horrifying. And while there were a couple of creepy parts, it was mostly a yawn. Man. I was prepared for the worst. Maybe I picked a bad one?
It was Ju-on: The Grudge.
It's my pick for the scariest of all the J-horror imports in recent years (and it had me jumpy for a while afterwards despite many, many years of horror movie desensitization). Maybe that particular story just didn't grab you?
I admit I haven't watched many, but Audition is my favourite horror movie in a long while.
Audition was creepy as all fuck. There's something about Japanese and Korean horror that scares the hell outta me; I don't know why it's worse than American horror. American horror makes me jump and yelp, but once the movie's over it's gone. Japanese and Korean horror sticks with me and keeps me awake at night.
It didn't help that a door spring in the bathroom of the restaurant I ate at immediately after seeing it made the same sound that Kayako made when closing in for the kill in that office building restroom.
It's just very fortunate that I was already peeing when I heard it.
