Unrelated to movies...I also purchased the Dresden Files three disc set for a buck at the library and am thoroughly enjoying THAT audio commentary as well.
The man signed on for Zardoz, I think we can take the unreliability of his judgement on script/movie quality as a given.

Sweet God. Insidious grossed over $54 million domestically. Insidious: Chapter 2 just made $41 million in its opening weekend.
The internet says Connery was offered Gandalf. I can't see it myself, though I'd love to hear someone do an imitation of him saying You Shall Not Pass in his slurred brogue.
I'm having a far harder time envisioning him in any of the Matrix movies.
