I feel like
There was just a big reveal. I won't spoil it because, honestly, I really don't want to take the time to write it all down.
is a line I should steal and use often.
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I should probably not be quite so gleeful that the movie is getting terrible reviews, but I am.
Yes, yes you should.
Also, I have seen the tie-in clothing line at Hot Topic , and ... well. Even by HT standards, there's some really substandard manufacturing going on there.
One of my poor interns was beside herself over the Mortal Instruments movie. She's dying to read the book(s?) and has to read 1989 instead for her summer reading that is due in a week (man, either she's in some advanced HS program, or highschool in the 90's was much easier). She got me interested in checking it out. Now, not so much. Which makes me sad, because I want to see Lily Collins in more stuff.
Every time the movie or books came up at IO9 I had to blurt a plagiarism comment, and hold the Fanlore link for the first person to ask.
I've been avoiding the front page recently, but I am tempted to go back with
5:21 p.m. This movie "borrows" so many tropes, I would not be surprised if The Avengers showed up.
as my backup plan.
Also, in the trailer, the CGI on the werewolves looks subpar.
Also also, I'm not big on a film where the male lead looks one stroke away from an orgasm for every scene
I'm rewatching Winter's Bone. Such a crazy good movie, and Jennifer Lawrence and John Hawkes are so crazy good in it.
So I finally saw Man of Steel at the dollar(-fifty) cinema and....I didn't hate it? I thought it was c+/B- as superhero movies go, although that's not what you should expect from a Superman movie.
I thought Cavill did a good job with Kal-El, and the pacing was mostly OK. I did get a feeling, particularly towards the end, that this movie was more Miracleman-esque(or possibly Warren Ellis-esque) than Supes-ish.
I just read a plot synopsis of City of Bones, and I'll never get those ten minutes back.
DH and I watched Now You See Me last night because it was there and we were in the mood for a heist movie.
I feel like this movie should have come with an asterisk and a warning label that said "Note: contains no actual heists. May induce drowsiness."
Other than the one very brief and disappointing car chase, I think literally every other scene in the movie was just people standing around talking about the plot. Maybe 10% of this movie was the plot actually happening, vs 90% standing around talking about it. Good lord, what a waste.
I really want to see "In a World..." this weekend. Maybe tomorrow night...
