"Why do you come to me now, when I am this? "
Broke my heart.
Anya ,'Bring On The Night'
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
"Why do you come to me now, when I am this? "
Broke my heart.
Broke my heart.
For realz.
I'm kind of overcome thinking about it, that scene, the whole story.
that scene where the Podling shriveled up when her essence was drained:
OH GOD WHY WOULD YOU LINK TO THAT??? Sadist!
Ah, children's movies.
Why should I be the only one that sees that on the inside of my eyelids when I'm trying to sleep?
At least Zhaan paid them back years later on Farscape...
I loved The Last Unicorn as a kid. But I think I was just young enough that it was more of an overall impression, I honestly remember so little detail from it. I'm planning to go on Saturday to refresh my memory (plus get the stuff that went over my head when I was a kid)as much as anything else.
"It would be the last unicorn that came to Molly Grue." ::sobs::
Oh, and Madame Fortuna and the Harpy, so much delicious awefulness.
Beg to differ; Matilda wasn't traumatized by it in the least. Here was her description after her first viewing, at 4-ish:
"Did you know about the bully and the unicorn? He pushed them all into the water, but then they escaped away! I think if we push the bully into the water, and poke a hole in him, and take out all his blood, and then cut off his horn, and then cut off the horns on his head, and then cut his head off, then we could EAT HIM."
This was forwarded to Beagle himself, who said that she's welcome to write the summaries for everything he ever writes forever after.
eta: The subtle sadness of Molly Grue will probably be lost on her for a good few years to come.
I mostly remember that the visuals were beautiful(of course, I had a Harmonyesque Unicorn obsession at that time) and it wasn't what I expected) If you like movies about garage bands, you need to see "Not Fade Away"
Ben Affleck is the new Batman.
From Daredevil to Batman. Makes sense...except that no one really liked him as Daredevil.
