A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Having grown up with horses, but not abusive childhood, despite some problems, I am interested in that movies, bonny! I'd not heard of it.

My friend really wants me to go with her to see Cloud Atlas, but the trailer just doesn't catch me, and I've not read the book.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Emmett and I saw The Dark Knight Rises again today, 'cuz it's still playing in IMAX.

Which, incidentally, is the way you need to see it. Because...

Like with The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan decided to film sequences of the sequel, The Dark Knight Rises, in 15/70mm IMAX.[41] Nolan elected not to film in 3-D and stated that he intends to focus on improving image quality and scale using the IMAX format. In a Hollywood record, The Dark Knight Rises will feature over an hour of footage shot in IMAX (in comparison, The Dark Knight contained less than 30 minutes.) But because of the considerable noise made by IMAX cameras, 35mm and 70mm cameras had to be used for shooting the film's dialogue scenes, and dialogue had to be dubbed when shot with IMAX cameras. Chairman and president of the IMAX Corporation Greg Foster stated that IMAX plans to run the film in its theaters for two months, despite only being contractually committed to run the film for two weeks in some theaters.

So a whole hour of it was shot in IMAX instead of digitally upgraded after the fact. No wonder it looks so amazing.

Punishingly Intricate

Friends I was with who had not read the book enjoyed the movie okay. Although, everyone was struck by how FREAKING BAD THE MAKEUP IS!

You should totally read the book!

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Has anyone with kids seen Wreck-it Ralph yet? I'm wondering if it's 5 year-old appropriate. (said 5 year-old enjoys Teen Titans and season 1 of Avengers: EMH, but still finds some of the episodes scary.)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

My five year old was scared in parts and had to leave the theater at one point, but his friend who went with them to the screening stayed in his seat the whole time. (And even though Dylan claims he "hated" the movie and never wants to see it again*, he's also been quoting and acting out parts of it nonstop for a week.)

So a tentative yes, but it depends on the kid.

*This is his standard reaction to any movie with even one scary scene in it and should not be taken to mean much of anything.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I saw Flight last night and was NOT impressed. Yeah, Denzel is great in it and the plane crach sequence is amazing, but it mostly feels like a really expensive movie of the week. I learned THIS from the movie: drinking is bad.

Okay. Thanks, Jessica. I know my son was okay with Toy Story 3, which I understand has some emotional parts. (I still haven't found time to watch it myself yet, and I've remained miraculously unspoiled) I'm not sure how that compares. I know it scared him at the time, but he still likes the movie.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

The emotional parts of Toy Story 3 are worse than the emotional parts of Wreck-It Ralph, but there is at least one scene that could, well, wreck him. And there are giant sci-fi bug things that he might find scary.

move out and draw fire

I'm happy to see you guys liked Wreck-It Ralph. I really wanted to go over the weekend, but I am now going to take Mal this Saturday as a reward for his report card. I assume I'll get more of the video jokes than he will, but really he's just my excuse to go anyway.
