River ,'The Message'

Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
My five year old was scared in parts and had to leave the theater at one point, but his friend who went with them to the screening stayed in his seat the whole time. (And even though Dylan claims he "hated" the movie and never wants to see it again*, he's also been quoting and acting out parts of it nonstop for a week.)
So a tentative yes, but it depends on the kid.
*This is his standard reaction to any movie with even one scary scene in it and should not be taken to mean much of anything.
I saw Flight last night and was NOT impressed. Yeah, Denzel is great in it and the plane crach sequence is amazing, but it mostly feels like a really expensive movie of the week. I learned THIS from the movie: drinking is bad.
So a tentative yes, but it depends on the kid.
Okay. Thanks, Jessica. I know my son was okay with Toy Story 3, which I understand has some emotional parts. (I still haven't found time to watch it myself yet, and I've remained miraculously unspoiled) I'm not sure how that compares. I know it scared him at the time, but he still likes the movie.
The emotional parts of Toy Story 3 are worse than the emotional parts of Wreck-It Ralph, but there is at least one scene that could, well, wreck him. And there are giant sci-fi bug things that he might find scary.
I'm happy to see you guys liked Wreck-It Ralph. I really wanted to go over the weekend, but I am now going to take Mal this Saturday as a reward for his report card. I assume I'll get more of the video jokes than he will, but really he's just my excuse to go anyway.
After discussing it with the better half, we're going to hold off on my son seeing it until one of us can pre-screen. Thanks for the information.
I think I'm going to go see it tonight; I'd rather not be on the edge of my seat with election news all evening.

The Hobbit outsells Breaking Dawn and Skyfall in online ticket sales.
No talk about Skyfall yet? I really enjoyed it, with the exception of one infuriating thing that I want to see if someone else points out. I was pretty rapt during the film though. It's gorgeous.
