"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Aww. I like that kind of celebrity story.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I just can't look at the trailer for the Lone Ranger remake without Jilli's "Friends don't let friends dress like The Crow" echoing through my head. [link]

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't know if the issue is The Crow so much as it is A Crow.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Who made the word maroon an insult? I first saw it used that way in Bugs Bunny. Was it in currency before that? It always jogs my eye because it's the name of a Jamaican people, and they're basically the coolest shit ever, so I need to rework all the sentences to make them insulting.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I first saw it used that way in Bugs Bunny.

That's how I first heard it. I'm not sure if it's related to the Jamaican Maroons. I suspect Bugs' version is a variant off "moron." But I'm not sure. Where's erinaceous when you need her?

I doubt it would be related--why would any Americans care enough to make any use of the term, derogatory or otherwise?

I care about the Jamaican Maroons! Totally badass! "Fuck all y'all, we're up in the mountains. It's bad for you if you come at us."

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Maroon was always paired with "im-bess-ill" for imbecile with Bugs, so I suspect it had nothing to do with any known terms, just comical miss-prow-nun-see-ations.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I have never read the book, so-- I have seen 2 trailers for Perks of Being a Wallflower, one of which features "come on Eileen", and one of which features David Bowie's "Heroes", and I can't tell whether this is a period piece, and the people are my age, but teenagers in 1980 whatever, or if they are hipsters. Please advise.
