When we landed here you said you needed a few days to get space worthy again and is there somethin' wrong with your bunk?

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Whitefont? What whitefont?

whistles innocently

(sorry - couldn't remember if casting spoilers should be whitefonted or not)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If Beetee being in the movie's not a spoiler, who's playing them isn't likely to be.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Heh. Exploring the new Roku, we've just stumbled on the 1978 Superman, and Matilda is all agog and cheering already. She keeps repeating, "You've got me? Who's got you?" and laughing like a loon. She's also calling Christopher Reeve "Supey." I don't think he'd mind.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

So it turns out that The Descendants is really, really good. Well done, Dean.

None of the last eight movies I got from Netflix rated above a B/B+, which is where I stick movies that I generally enjoy but are too flawed to go higher. So it was a relief to finally watch something great.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

good for you man, I have been watching movies on Netflix (streaming only) that are squarely in the "C" category. They are entertaining, a diversion, but not really good. I have been looking for better quality entertainment.

(sorry for any typos. I'm on my ipad and the print is a bit smaller than I'm used to so I can't see all the boo-boos)

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I can't judge, my current Netflix DVD is a 1990s Danielle Steele TV movie. (Hey, it has Ben Browder shirtless! Not to mention Christopher Plummer and Stephanie Beacham acting up a storm.)
