Thanks! Although I think I'm more confused than ever.
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I just got back, and I completely disagree with le nubian. Well, except on Emma Stone, because, duh. I enjoyed the way they handled the origin story (yes, again), I was never bored, I thought Andrew Garfield was wonderful, and I laughed quite a bit, as did the rest of the theater.
I thought it was a great first Spidey movie, and I look forward to more. I have whitefonty thoughts, but I'll wait till other people see it. And by people I mean Steph.
I just read a comment saying that it was better than Dark Knight, pure awesomeness...
But then he said there were two deal-breakers he could get past, and also that Tesla really created a Death Ray, so I'm not sure I can make head nor tail of his commentary.
We're skipping the 5:00 show in lieu of a nap (not a euphemism). I think we're going to a later show, though.
I completely disagree with le nubian.
not surprised, man. that's almost something we can count on!
it was better than Dark Knight
mommy, someone got in the bad crack again.
This is why I'm good skipping Magic Mike.
And it does make sense. I can't just focus on the top right GIF, and not get distracted.

Ha ha ha, I haven't been keeping track!
mommy, someone got in the bad crack again.
We can agree on that, though.
Despite virtually almost all the actors being good, I thought the story had all the subtlety of a jackhammer. Ridiculous coincidences abounded, and it was all Your father, Your Father, YOUR FATHER!!!1! So I guess Peter losing his mom was no big loss, since kids only miss the love from their presumably deceased parents if they were brilliant scientists. That have penises.
Matt,
I didn't go into the spoilerrific stuff yet, but I agree. The writer(s) of this movie have GINORMOUS daddy issues. Like seriously. Freud would be proud. How many father figures were killed in this film? This is almost a record. Not to mention the man whose son was saved by Spider-man. It was all so over the top.
Will offered to go see Magic Mike with me if I wanted to see it in the theater (I'm going to wait until it's on dvd).
Actually he said he'd go with me to see male strippers in person if I wanted.
