I wonder if it'll be After Sunrise.
Vonnie, are you watching Legend of Korra?

It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

There is something marvellous about the notion of revisiting this same couple every 10 years for... I don't know. As long as Linklater, Hawke and Delpy are willing, I suppose.
I can't wait. I love those movies.
Vonnie, are you watching Legend of Korra?
Er, no. I haven't yet watched Avatar: the Last Airbender either although many people have told me I should. I tried the first couple of episodes and bounced off them pretty hard. But I've been meaning to try them again at some point.

It's a little like BtVS in that the early episodes are very different tonally from what comes. It's pitched much more as a kid's show early on and then sort of comes together with an awesome S1 conclusion, and then it takes off from there.
And (as with BtVS) that's not to say there's nothing good about S1 - there are many, many excellent episodes. But it takes a little while to find that tricky tone and learn what it's capable of doing.
But it has SO many great female characters - both protagonist and antagonist - and lots of complex moral shadings and gorgeous animation and design and very funny lines by very talented voice actors. Plus, it's only three seasons long and (to my mind) satisfies narratively on the deepest levels for plot, character and themes.
My favorite character on the new show is Chief Lin Beifong - a totally badass middle aged woman with super powers. Here's the real-life person they used as a model for Chief Beifong.
Wow, look at those cheekbones! Her name (model for the Chief) sounds Korean. Is the animation in AtLA done in Korea? More reason to watch, I guess! (I've already heard about the moral complexities and awesome character arcs.)

Yep.

Yeah, she's their animation manager in Korea. She da boss.
Vonnie, I suspect you will love Toph. But you have to get to season 2 for that.
