And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Feh. Brave was a huge disappointment. The characters are all so flat. The scenery is gorgeous and the plot could have turned into something interesting, but apparently the writers were so impressed that their main character was A GIRL that they didn't realize female protagonists need layers too.

And I know Pixar can do better. This is the studio who brought us Cowgirl Jesse, and Dory, and EVE. Hell, Ellie in the first 20 minutes of Up had more personality than everyone in Brave put together.

(Also, do not take young kids to see this. The trailers don't give away what the actual plot is, but suffice to say it was fucking terrifying to my five year-old, who spent the entire screening in my lap hiding his face. It's not "girl runs into the forest to be a tomboy and finds her destiny" AT ALL.)

Seriously? Woe. We will be hard-pressed not to take the kids to it; they both know a new Pixar is coming out and have seen previews.

Because books.

Yeah, Sara really wants to see it. I want to pretend you didn't post that and say "LA LA LA" but at least I can be prepared to be disappointed this way.

Yeah, my 19-yo niece wants to go to the midnight showing when it opens, and I said I would, so. I shall just dial back my expectations, and look forward to the pretty graphics.

There's also Scottish accents throughout that'll be nice to listen to.

I spent a while staring at this trailer before giving up and going to IMDB to find out who the leads were. Anyway, I'm not sure whether it will make Dana happy or horrified: [link]

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I watched the trailer at the Monkey See blog. It looks like they said "Glee! That's popular, right?" and then made a movie. I thought it looked pretty awful.

Admittedly, I did not sing college a capella.
