I think of that kind of lion-mane color that surfers get with sun-bleaching over brownish-auburn.
My flippant answer is that it was probably specifically created to trigger that reaction, because I know you're not the only person to have that creep-out reaction to it. Every time I see the trailer, I can feel my muscles tensing up when the siren noise becomes audible.
I suspect the siren noise in Silent Hill was similarly intentional.

I linked to that upthread. But it is an interesting read, and I'd love it to be true. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing if it is until Thor 2, at the earliest.
It would have been nice if Joss gave us some further hint in the movie itself, if that was the case. Even a scene of Thor and Loki arriving in Asgard and Loki saying "Home" followed by an evil grin. (Of course, he couldn't be gagged for that to work.)
