Yeah, that's a great scene.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Moving To March 2013 To Add 3D For Bigger Foreign Box Office.
I know no one here was actually waiting for this movie, but this is such a bizarre piece of news. One month from its release date, it gets pushed back nine months ? (Also, does it really take that long to do 3D??)
To make a Channing Tatum character three-dimensional they're going to have to invent whole new technologies.
Speaking of fight scenes (and my eternal shame--especially you Hec, no need to say it)--I just saw the They Live fight scene and my socks are knocked all the way off.
That is one of the all time greatest fight scenes ever put to film. I share your absolute adoration of it, ita, and agree that this other person is a heathen. It's a HIGHLIGHT! A *selling point*!
P-C,
I agree. Why not release the film and then release a 3d version later. People will watch it, probably overseas.
What this probably means (at least to me) is that the film is not testing particularly well. The movie will probably be just so-so and they are going to try to wring every bit of $$ out of it that they can.
They probably want the negative cash flow on NEXT year's roster.
Me too. Especially in Wonder Boys, but also in Spider-Man 2.
Unsuprisingly, Hec and I are one on this.
The They Live fight is awesome and hilarious. As is the movie.
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum!!!
At least judging from the trailers the big problem will be converting the Rock to 3D in post. It appears Channing Tatum's character dies off the bat.

I like that one of the execs is like, "Look how Titanic in 3D did!" Um, that's because IT'S TITANIC. A pile of shit in 3D is not going to make significantly more money than a pile of shit in 2D.

Although I learned this line from Duke Nukem, it is an all-time great, extremely purposeful movie line.
A pile of shit in 3D is not going to make significantly more money than a pile of shit in 2D.
Yeah, but a 3D pile of shit is going to look more impressive than a 2D pile of shit.
Or maybe "impressive" is the wrong word. Maybe the word I'm thinking of is "taller".
I was actually looking forward to the new G.I. Joe (why did my autocorrect not recognize G.I. ? It kept changing it to B.C.) because it looks like they were actually trying to do right by the fans of the original show (the costumes and vehicles look great) but I'm not crying with outrage about it getting pushed back.
I do agree that 9 months to 3D-ify it sounds like a cover for other problems, though.
And another site pointed out that pushing it back this close to release completely screws over the merchandising, as apparently the tie-in toys are already showing up in stores.
