Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

And the queen & wicked stepsister in Ever After thought they had it rough becoming servants

In the original version of Cinderella, they all had their eyes pecked out by birds. And the two girls basically maimed themselves trying to get their feet to fit into the glass slipper.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Chopped off their heels and toes, as my mom would remind me often when we were shoe shopping.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Oh, yeah, big fan of Into the Woods, so we could even sing about the blood in the shoes...if we wanted to.

Just sayin'...made to work in the laundry and being dyed purple...those ladies got off WAAAY easy.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have that same collection, Jilli.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

If you didn't want to do the legwork in calculating Avenger screentime: [link] (doesn't include Fury or Loki).

I would not have guessed that Steve actually got more screentime than Tony, as I was left wanting more of the former and less of the latter.

Loki seemed to know plenty about the Earth when he was visiting Thor during his imprisonment in the Branagh film. I gathered that he may have traveled to the planet on his own and learned a thing or two prior to the events of that movie.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I gathered that he may have traveled to the planet on his own and learned a thing or two prior to the events of that movie.

In Norse lore Loki hangs out on Earth a lot, being a trickster god and whatnot.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

In Norse lore Loki hangs out on Earth a lot, being a trickster god and whatnot.

Yeah. That's why the Vikings have never won a Super Bowl.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

The Great Gatsby. [link]

I don't think I am going to watch this in the theater. Robert Redford = Gatsby to me.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I do like the cast, though, and think they can be interesting in Baz Luhrmann's hands. But I have no great attachment to the story in any version.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, Elizabeth Debicki, Amitabh Bachchan
