this Tumblr for thoughtful Avengers fannish squee. Not even squee, just intriguing analysis
Dang, Hec, you shouldn't have shared that link! I want to read the whole Tumblr, and instead I have to edit shit about postoperative atrial fibrillation.
Guess which one is more interesting.

Am I me, or am I Greg House?
Although he'd probably prefer the Avengers, too.
I am full of woe. The advance reviews of
Dark Shadows
are confirming all my fears the trailer caused. And yet, I still want to go see it. Tim, why are you making it so hard to be a fan of your work?

Uh-oh.
I'll probably still see it, but the probability of me seeing it is inversely proportional to the number and intensity of negative reviews.
One review said "As if the pitch was Addams Family plus Austin Powers, with some Brady Bunch thrown in". This makes me very wary.
ETA: Especially because I'm one of the few people who really didn't like Austin Powers. I do not want that in a Tim Burton movie, and ESPECIALLY one that's supposed to be about vampires. Tim, this was supposed to be Sweeney Todd + Beetlejuice, dammit!
Matilda is fascinated by the Dark Shadows billboards and commercials. She asked if it was scary, and I said "A little scary, but more funny."
She nodded and said, "Like that movie with the baby that had the moustache?" (Addams Family Values)
So I think that's the best case scenario.
Also, Emmett's been binging on watching Dexter and Matilda had him explain it to her. So now she's curious about the "guy who kills people but only bad guys."
I despised Austin Powers. I may go see Dark Shadows at the dollar movie, but that's a May.
The first Austin Powers was 20 minutes of good movie stretched out to 90.
I hated the idea of the character of Austin Powers, so there was no way to redeem the movie for me.
