Back from The Avengers.
The biggest laughs were
for Hulk punching Thor, and treating Loki like a ragdoll.
I thought of Ple when Tony
called Thor "Point Break."
Tony Snark.
Ruffalo was so good.
I'm glad Joss spent a lot of time establishing BW as a badass, and giving her several great scenes including
her Silence of the Lambs-y scene where she played Loki.
I also thought it was smart that when it came to Captain America
Joss thought the costume looked as doofy as I did with the mask on, and kept finding ways to expose Chris Evans' pretty face. Especially when he was standing on the ground next to BW and Hawkeye he looked like he was a miscast professional wrestler.
I'm glad he gave Enver and Alexis gigs, even in small parts. He takes care of his peeps.
Wholly satisfying and entertaining. If Joss does two more, he'll get to make his musical.
Re: The Avengers I'm curious about reactions to the first after-credits scene.
Has
Thanos been regularly used in Marvel comics? Would he be readily recognized by folks who just read the comics, or only people who read the original Starlin stories in the 70s? Do people get that the whole "courting death" line is a specific reference to Thanos (aka, Thanatos, Freud's Love Of Death) primary motivation? Also, that he's basically Marvel's knockoff Darkseid?
Ruffalo was so good.
Best Bruce Ever! And Hulk!
It was wonderfully obvious they used Ruffalo as the model for the Hulk.
"I'm always angry."
was such a Joss line, and fits so many of his other characters I cheered when he said it.
Regarding Hulk and Loki:
Two things I have gleaned from the internet:
1)
That scene where Hulk smashes Loki like a ragdoll was shot exactly like the scenes in a Tex Avery cartoon where Droopy Dog grabs somebody by their ankles and smashes them about.
2)
Unconfirmed, but I heard that Lou Ferrigno was used to deliver the "Puny God" line.
David, 2) is true, and it was also true for the last Hulk movie.
That is both hilarious and awesome. Go team Joss.
And heh on 1).
I'm not angry, I'm just terribly, terribly hurt. SLAM SMASH!!!!
I just watched Thor and loved it to pieces. It was so much fun! Definitely had a bit of an Iron Man feel. And Chris Hemsworth has a brand-new fan. Mmph.
Re: The Avengers I'm curious about reactions to the first after-credits scene.
David, the character in question
was almost Wolverine-ubiquitous in the 90s, featuring heavily in one big crossover after another. And starred in his own critically acclaimed limited series a couple years ago. Marvel comics readers would likely recognize him.
