David, 2) is true, and it was also true for the last Hulk movie.

That is both hilarious and awesome. Go team Joss.
And heh on 1). I'm not angry, I'm just terribly, terribly hurt. SLAM SMASH!!!!
I just watched Thor and loved it to pieces. It was so much fun! Definitely had a bit of an Iron Man feel. And Chris Hemsworth has a brand-new fan. Mmph.
Re: The Avengers I'm curious about reactions to the first after-credits scene.
David, the character in question was almost Wolverine-ubiquitous in the 90s, featuring heavily in one big crossover after another. And starred in his own critically acclaimed limited series a couple years ago. Marvel comics readers would likely recognize him.
Thanks, Matt!
Oh yeah, some other funny lines:
Cap: Getting the Flying Monkeys joke.
and
On the SHIELD base: the guy playing Galaga.
eta:
Thor: He's adopted.
It wasn't even Thor's "He's adopted," as much as the delivery, timing-wise. I don't remember the character getting anything close to that smart-assed in Thor.
And Cap was SO PROUD of getting the flying monkeys reference. Bless. I also loved the way he just wordlessly pulled out the $10 bill and handed it to Nick Fury.
Hulk punching Thor instantly reminded me of Angel punching Xander in -- was it "Enemies"?, where he pretended to be Angelus again to trick Faith and the mayor? I tried really hard to not look for Buffyverse-inspired moments, but that one just jumped out at me so hard.
And, honestly, I got the biggest kick out of Cap's delivery of "Hulk? Smash." Such a well-executed twist of the cliche.
Also? At the end, Tony's line -- was it "Nobody better have kissed me"? made me laugh for about 30 seconds. You can't tell me that wasn't Joss, fully aware of slashy fanfic.
The final post-credits scene? Funniest one since Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Holy crap, we laughed and laughed and laughed at that.
I just got back from seeing Avengers. But I missed the second post-credit scene.
On my way home, my life of crime resulted in me being caught by a red-light camera. I was in a pissy mood when I got home, but seeing the final post-credit scene on YouTube just cracked me up so much I stopped caring about my soon-to-be ticket.
Off to see Avengers soon! I'm super excited! And holy heck! How did I not make the connection that Chris Hemsworth and Liam Hemsworth (Gale from Hunger Games) are brothers?!
