Yeah, well, whatever, Joss. I am so over this need of his to kill someone off to prove that it's REALLY SERIOUS UP IN HERE.
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I'm just glad it wasn't Pepper or Erik Selvig.
Matt, I totally expected Erik to sacrificially die while closing the portal.
Joss couldn't kill Pepper, because there's gotta be another Iron Man movie in the works.
The people in Joss' Rolodex (or whatever) just expanded a lot. And we've got MUCH ADO coming up soon too!
Interrupting the Avengers squee to post this piece about a fan campaigning for Jesse Williams from Cabin in the Woods and Grey's Anatomy to play Finnick in Catching Fire and Mockingjay. I think he looks pretty good for the role.
right?
the explicit expressed racism coming out of every corner these days has me on the fucking edge.
I honestly don't know how my ancestors coped with all this bullshit. I really don't.
It's gross. The reaction to Rue broke my heart, and infuriated me at the same time. And Jesse Williams is gorgeous. He'd be perfect.
Back from The Avengers.
The biggest laughs were for Hulk punching Thor, and treating Loki like a ragdoll.
I thought of Ple when Tony called Thor "Point Break."
Tony Snark.
Ruffalo was so good.
I'm glad Joss spent a lot of time establishing BW as a badass, and giving her several great scenes including her Silence of the Lambs-y scene where she played Loki.
I also thought it was smart that when it came to Captain America Joss thought the costume looked as doofy as I did with the mask on, and kept finding ways to expose Chris Evans' pretty face. Especially when he was standing on the ground next to BW and Hawkeye he looked like he was a miscast professional wrestler.
I'm glad he gave Enver and Alexis gigs, even in small parts. He takes care of his peeps.
Wholly satisfying and entertaining. If Joss does two more, he'll get to make his musical.

Me too. On both counts.
Re: The Avengers I'm curious about reactions to the first after-credits scene.
Has Thanos been regularly used in Marvel comics? Would he be readily recognized by folks who just read the comics, or only people who read the original Starlin stories in the 70s? Do people get that the whole "courting death" line is a specific reference to Thanos (aka, Thanatos, Freud's Love Of Death) primary motivation? Also, that he's basically Marvel's knockoff Darkseid?
