I went to Thor because I wanted to see what Branagh did with the superhero genre. I enjoyed it. I felt Loki had some legitimate gripes about not being told he had giant blood, but naturally his coping methods suck. Thor was a brat who deserved getting banished, and I loved the look on his face when he fought his way in to his hammer and then couldn't pick it up.
And Freya kicked ass. As did Lady Sif.
As did Lady Sif.
I feel like the actress who played Sif could easily play Wonder Woman. I'd like to see it.
Serious Avengers spoilers: I should have
realized that Agent Coulson was toast
when
he started acting like a Joss Whedon proxy
.

I really liked her in the movie and hope she'd have more to do in the sequels. She certainly looks the part of WW: [link]

And she was kick-ass in terms of fighting.
Tom, I know! I told a friend of mine they
may as well have put him in a red shirt. The whole theatre let out a "noooooo".
I'm waiting until next weekend to see the movie,
I had a brief conversation about the movie with the guy in training with me. He said he wasn't sure he was going to see it, didn't see the big deal. I told him I was excited because 1) AVENGERS and 2) Joss Whedon!
His response?
"He totally sold out." Which left me all ?!?!? and I asked what he meant. Well, he said, Joss is a low budget indie guy, "like Serenity." I'm not sure if he never watched Firefly but I retorted "Fox cancelled Firefly!"
But then he declared all the movies cheesy. According to him the only decent ones are Iron Man and Iron Man 2. Capt. America was really cheesy and Thor was barely watchable.
So I decided to ignore his taste in movies.
How could he not like the star-spangled man with the plan?
OK, cheesy--but it's a good cheese!
Tom, I agree with your whitefont! And I
teared up a little, because dammit, Son of Coul! Whaaaaaah!
Thanks to a morale event at my new job, we saw it at the big IMAX theatre in 3-D. I don't think the 3-D added anything, really. But wheeee, fun movie.
