Can anyone think of a well-done rom-com that skirts closely to what might actually happen in RL?

Sid & Nancy?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Heh, I remember that now.

The title "Prick Up Your Ears" was intended to be a double-entendre, you know.

Joe Orton's plays are great, btw. Sadly, the film version of Loot was crap. IIRC they changed a lot to de-emphasize the gayness of the two main characters.

I liked the film version of Entertaining Mr. Sloan when I saw it about 25 years ago.

eta (for those who are not P-C): "Prick Up Your Ears" was the title of a play (I think) that Joe Orton never finished due to his murder. It's also the title of a great movie about him by Stephen Frears. Oh, and a biography by the son of the Cowardly Lion.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

The first 30 minutes of Joe v. Volcano is some of the most magical film-making I've ever seen.
