Nooooooo!
KHAAAAAAAAAAN!!!
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Nooooooo!
KHAAAAAAAAAAN!!!
It debuts tomorrow in Australia, so if you can manage to be the boss of space (or frequent flyer miles), time isn't a necessity.
Upcoming Pixar movies! Looks like the next one is Monsters University, which sounds like a Monsters, Inc. prequel. And then there's The Good Dinosaur, which is about what would happen if dinosaurs never went extinct. And then there's some sort of Pixar Does Psychonauts thing, and a Dia de los Muertos movie.
bonus that when Matt posted last night, it was already tomorrow in Australia. so it kind of IS like being the boss of space and time.
i'm chomping at the bit to see it too. the guys all being adorable in various interviews isn't helping.
Oh my god I CANNOT WAIT for The Avengers.
Last week I watched a whole bunch of previews (some I had seen before, some not) and became as like Teppy. So I've now stopped watching previews. Mostly.
The Avengers is opening soon in the UK, so I read a bunch of UK reviews. There was disagreement among the critics as to whether The Avengers was the best comic movie of all time or not.

If you're in the discussion you're doing okay.
I'm psyched about the movie, but I'm even more psyched that it looks to be a critical and financial hit which gives Joss Hollywood leverage (aka, money) to do other projects.
In my dream world, that actually means Joss gets a production deal with HBO to do a series there. Joss putting out a 13 episode season every year for five years? Without network interference? Yeah, that'd be good stuff. But that's just a pipe dream.
Y'all have sparked my interest in The Avengers. I'm not a comic book person, but I've been rewatching both Iron Main movies and watching Thor, Captain America, and The Hulk. Is there any other homework I should do in preparation?

Find out who that archer guy is. Then tell me.
Also, who is the woman who is not Scarlett Johansson?
There are two Hulk movies; the one with Ed Norton is the more relevant one.

Not really. The movie has to stand on its own, because although comics fans will obviously go see it, the majority of viewers are going to be people who have never picked up a comic.
Will there be things in it that comics readers will catch that you won't (like Hawkeye in Thor)? Sure, but the movie won't hinge on it. You can't make a movie that way and expect it to do huge box-office numbers.
