Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

it's only important that the queen believes Snow White is more beautiful than she is

I don't think so. Traditionally, Snow White has been prettier to the audience than the Evil Queen, hasn't she?

I'm giving you a data point.

I continue to accept that you exist.

Kyriarchy is a neologism coined by Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza to describe interconnected, interacting, and multiplicative systems of domination and submission, within which a person oppressed in one context might be privileged in another. It is an intersectional elaboration of the concept of patriarchy — it extends the analysis of oppression beyond traditional feminism to dynamics such as sexism, racism, economic injustice, and other forms of internalized and institutionalized oppression

Because books.

Traditionally, Snow White has been prettier to the audience than the Evil Queen, hasn't she?

In movies, I guess, although the Disney queen was sort of an icy-cold beauty. But it was a story long before it was a movie.

For me, they're both equally attractive in their way, so it doesn't bother me.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

News flash: the opposite of good is John Carter.

That's too bad. I was hoping that it was good because Michael Chabon wrote the script.

I thought some of that was because of the age difference, too -- that the Queen was threatened by Snow White's youth.

And now I'm realizing I might be coming at it from a very Anne Sexton place.

I continue to accept that you exist.

That's gratifying. Now go put it in a little box with the other data points so it doesn't get lost.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

But it was a story long before it was a movie.

And when I read the story, I took the queen's word for it. I wasn't surprised or challenged by the movie's interpretation of Snow White as a more real, warm, true beauty. I definitely thought we were supposed to like her face (and heart, of course) better, even in the text.
