What would be more helpful, of course, is if I sat down with my college-age self and explained for an hour or two about "why your approach to things often doesn't work."

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Oh, and I'd say, "Take math and science courses, really."
Hmmm. I don't think I'd have any big life-altering stuff to tell my college-age self to do differently. Maybe "do more upper body strength training while your metabolism is fast and you can pack on muscle." And "don't pay money to go see Mel Gibson movies unless Jodie Foster and James Garner are in them. You'll thank me later."
Now that I think of it, all the stuff I'd tell college age me is stuff I told college age me when I was in college. College age me just did not listen.
"Yes, sleep with him, but try not to cry so much over him. He has his uses, but heartache isn't one of them."
Heh. I didn't even sleep with anyone until senior year, and still could have used this advice. Good lord.
I think I would have told college age me, "Do your g-d rehab," but I'm still telling myself that and still not listening.
My grandfather went completely blind from macular degeneration.
My grandmother did as well, or if not completely, enough that she couldn't drive or read easily. And she'd already gone deaf in one ear years earlier. Fortunately her hearing in her other ear was fine enough and she loved the books on tape and listening to music. And having conversations. She was fully engaged in what was going on around her up until her death.
So if I can sneak away from work long enough to see a movie this week, should it be The Secret World of Arreitty, Chronicle, or This Means War?
do not watch the final of the 3. I've not heard a good word about it.
ita liked it, le nubian. She just saw it this weekend.
Yeah, that's what's making me put it up for consideration, as ita's taste in entertainment matches mine more closely than just about anyone's.
